HISTORY
In the late 1700s Brooksville began as the settlement Woodward's Crossroads. The town was renamed Brooksville in 1839 in honor of David Brooks. Brooks was a legislator who introduced the bill to move the county seat from nearby Augusta to Brooksville.

The early 1980's craze of "Stomper Pulling" ,
was said to began at the poolroom in Brooksville.
